چکیده
We propose algorithms that use the complete knowledge of future topology changes to set up benchmarks for the minimum number of times a communication structure (like paths, trees, connected dominating sets, etc.) should change in the presence of a dynamically changing topology. We first present an efficient algorithm called OptPathTrans that operates on a simple greedy principle: whenever a new source–destination (s–d) path is required at time instant t, choose the longestliving s–d path from time t. The above strategy when repeated over the duration of the s–d session yields a sequence of long-lived stable paths such that number of path transitions is the global minimum. We then propose algorithms to determine the sequence of stable Steiner trees and the sequence of stable connected dominating sets to illustrate that the principle behind OptPathTrans is very general and can be used to find the stable sequence of any communication structure as long as there is a heuristic or algorithm to determine that particular communication structure in a given network graph. We study the performance of the three algorithms in the presence of complete knowledge of future topology changes as well as using models that predict the future locations of nodes. Performance results indicate that the stability of the communication structures could be considerably improved by making use of the knowledge about locations of nodes in the

Graph Theory Algorithms for Mobile Ad hoc Networksh
Various simulators (e.g., ns-2 and GloMoSim) are available to implement and study the behavior of the routing protocols for mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs). But, students and investigators who are new to this area often get perplexed in the complexity of these simulators and lose the focus in designing and analyzing the characteristics of the network and the protocol. Most of the time would be ...
متن کاملMobility-based Multicast Routing Algorithm in Wireless Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks: A Learning Automata Approach
In this paper, we propose a distributed learning automata-based algorithm to solve the multicast routing problem in wireless mobile ad-hoc networks. The proposed algorithm estimates the expected relative mobility of each host, by sampling its movement parameters in various epochs, to realistically predict its motion behavior, and takes advantage of the Steiner connected dominating set to form t...
متن کاملMaintaining weakly-connected dominating sets for clustering ad hoc networks
An ad hoc network is a multihop wireless communication network supporting mobile users. Network performance degradation is a major problem as the network becomes larger. Clustering is an approach to simplify the network structure and thus alleviate the scalability problem. One method that has been proposed to form clusters is to use weaklyconnected dominating sets [Y.P. Chen, A.L. Liestman, App...
متن کاملImproving Quality of Service Routing in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks Using OLSR
Mobile ad hoc networks (MANET) are constructed by mobile nodes without access point. Since MANET has certain constraints, including power shortages, an unstable wireless environment and node mobility, more power-efficient and reliable routing protocols are needed. The OLSR protocol is an optimization of the classical link state algorithm. OLSR introduces an interesting concept, the multipoint r...
متن کاملDetermining Cluster-Heads in Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks Using Multi-Objective Evolutionary based Algorithm
A mobile ad-hoc network (MANET), a set of wirelessly connected sensor nodes, is a dynamic system that executes hop-by-hop routing independently with no external help of any infrastructure. Proper selection of cluster heads can increase the life time of the Ad-hoc network by decreasing the energy consumption. Although different methods have been successfully proposed by researchers to tackle...
